You Asked and I Answered: Q&A with Ang.

It is currently 9:56 PM and after one hell of a day at work (a 12-hour shift, I may add), I am typing my fingers away to provide my weekly blog post. Cheers to consistency! Also, it is more apparent to me in this moment that my writing is a labor of love because I am truly exhausted but I digress.

I am no stranger to opening the doors of my life to the general reading public. However, there are still so many aspects of my life that I keep private. Earlier this week, I randomly decided to ask my followers on Instagram and Twitter to direct message me any questions they would like me to answer, requesting  that the questions were respectful. In my request, I informed my followers that if I received enough questions, I would share my responses in a blog post. So here we are. 😊 Happy reading!

Thoughts on additional content (podcast, YouTube, etc.)?

Great question! I have been considering a podcast, but I’m not mentally committed to the idea of seeing it through. However, I am planning on transferring my blog posts to audio which will upload like a podcast episode. Details will be revealed on this soon! I would also love to have a YouTube channel, as I have experienced this by having a channel with two other girls back in 2017 called Tipsy Talk with Latinas. But I am also mindful of how time-consuming creating YouTube content can be so this will not be an option for me for at least a couple of years.

What’s a favorite memory that you have?

Ah, this is hard to answer! I honestly have so many…but for the sake of choosing one, the one that sticks out the most to me is the moment I saw flamenco dancing for the first time in Barcelona, Spain. It was euphoric to watch such a beautiful part of Spaniard culture. Plus, the overwhelming feeling of (excitement) traveling overseas for the first time in my life. Europe is sooo different than the US and I love it because countries like Spain choose to live a life of ease.

What’s your favorite part about marriage?

I would say knowing that you have a life partner to walk by your side through the good and bad times. Marriage is beautiful but not in the fairytale type of way (please don’t ever expect a fairytale). Marriage ultimately stems from two people making the choice to love one person for the rest of their days. There will be times when arguments arise, and in those moments, it will be very hard to even like your spouse. But to keep choosing this person despite that? THAT is the true beauty of marriage.

What’s your favorite part about motherhood?

So, you spend 9 months of your life growing this little human being inside your stomach and make predictions of how your baby will be, whether it involves looks or personality traits. And then it turns out your baby is not exactly what you’ve predicted but, in a way, exactly what you predicted. Does that make sense? Lol. My daughter is 100% her own person at just 5 months old. Her personality is FIERCE, but she is also the happiest little mama. I love that I get to watch her grow and become her own person with her own free will. I don’t want to mold her, I want to simply guide her to becoming the best version of herself but also accepting that she will make mistakes throughout her life, and that is okay.

Where’s your favorite place that you’ve traveled? In and/or out of the country?

Eeeh, that is a good question. Puerto Rico is definitely one of my favorite places I have traveled to. The energy is so inviting and welcoming. Plus, you can’t go wrong with beautiful beaches, blue waters, amazing food, and lots of rum! Another one of my favorite destinations is Spain. I took a 14-day trip there and visited multiple cities throughout the country. The architecture and culture are so beautiful there. I loved these places so much that I’ve written about them both. Feel free to check out my posts about Puerto Rico and Spain.

How to keep the spice (going in a marriage) before and after having a baby?

First, I would say it is important to have open communication with one another. This is how you both are aware of what works (or does not work) in and out of the bedroom. Being receptive to your spouse’s requests is also important. When you are intentional with feeding the mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of your person, it enhances the physical connection between the both of you. Lastly, don’t be afraid to be spontaneous and switch the routine up!

Have you figured out what your purpose is?

Great question! I believe my purpose is the same as my mission statement for my life which is to provoke connectedness and healing for others by spreading kindness and authenticity through my writing. I feel that through my writing, people feel more connected to me because they can relate to what I have experienced in my life. Connectedness inspires healing and I want to be that healer, even if I am just a small part of a person’s healing journey. If you would like to dive deeper into why my blog site was created, feel free to check out my post about this here.

What is one song that you have on repeat in your playlist?

Peru by Fireboy DML. The song literally lives rent-free in my head! Honestly, anything in the genre of Afro Beats live rent-free in my head.

Would you have another child?

NO. At least not right now, haha. Having children is a game changer. It adds so many positive aspects to your life, but it is also very difficult to transition into parenthood because your life MUST change for the benefit of your child. Any time someone asks me this question, I reply with “one and done.” But I am not totally closed off to the idea of possibly having another child in a few years.

Any travel plans for the remainder of the year?

Yes! At the end of the month, I will be going on a cruise to Cozumel, Mexico for a girl’s trip. This momma is excited to be sipping on a fruity drink by the beach! Also, I recently found out that I will be traveling to Lisbon, Portugal in September for our annual company retreat. Nothing wrong with mixing business with pleasure, right?

What’s your love language? Your husband’s?

I have two- Quality Time and Words of Affirmation, with Quality Time being the top love language. For my husband, I am not 100% sure but based on his behaviors and actions, I would say Acts of Service and Receiving Gifts.

Any words of advice for someone who is feeling defeated?

Keep going. I know that you’re tired. You are not alone. It is important for you to keep pushing forward in those moments of defeat. You are capable and stronger than you think. One day, you will look back at this rough season and appreciate that you experienced it because it taught you a greater appreciation for the amazing seasons you will experience in your life. This too shall pass.

I hope you all enjoyed reading this post as much as I enjoyed writing it! My favorite part of blogging is being able to share and connect with my readers by having a conversation through reading and writing. If you have any further questions you would like to ask me, please don’t be shy and let me know in the comments! I would love to hear from you. Sending love to you all ❤

Like a lotus flower, I emerge from dark, murky waters to reveal my beauty. Feeling and healing on this journey of life; glowing and flowing. I have always loved writing, but it has taken me 29 trips around the sun before I had to confidence to share publicly. I hope my writing, which is near and dear to my heart, sparks light and love in all of you. Make yourself at home and enjoy the ride!

  1. I love this post! The questions are all in different areas which made it really fun to read. I agree with podcasts, I can’t imagine the workload but once you’re ready you’ll have at least one listener here! I’m excited about that blog post to audio and how that’ll work.

    1. Thank you so much! Yes, I love the idea of podcasts especially because I tend to be passionate and very expressive when I talk. I also feel like more people lean towards audio because it’s easier to listen to while trying to multitask. Cant wait to share more on this when the time comes!

  2. Good post! I like your opinion on marriage. But I do believe that marriage can be a fairytale even tho it has a lot of challenges. And yes, you will argue with your partner a lot. It all take kindness, love, and sincerity to create a real life fairytale.

    1. Thank you for commenting, Fadima! I can appreciate your opinion and completely agree. When I say fairytale, I mean more so of the unrealistic expectations that pop culture places on marriage, as if there is a rule book on how to succeed. In reality, as you have said, marriage has a lot of challenges and requires plenty of compromise and understanding.

  3. Open communication with your partner is probably the most important factor in any relationship, not just a marriage. If you don’t feel able to talk openly with your partner, then do you have a healthy relationship?

    1. Absolutely! A lot of people tend to put unnecessary pressure surrounding the expectations of marriage and this can potentially cause a marriage to fail. BTW congrats on your wedding! Thank you for reading and commenting!

  9. this was awesome, great getting to know you. I agree that motherhood changes so many things & it can be hard to bounce back (physically & emotionally).
a podcast sounds like a lovely extension to your blog & brand.

  10. I really enjoyed reading your post! I love to learn more about the person behind the screen. I also think that it’s important to show everyone that behind the screen we are all the same – people with dreams, suffer, and love. And it is so beautiful when we open our doors and say who we are and what we like 🙂
